India Wildlife Photography
The landscapes of India are incredibly diverse. From tropical forests to savanna grasslands to mangrove wetlands, each ecosystem is home to a wide range of wildlife. Bengal tigers roam through the forests and wetlands. Indian elephants rely on grassland and forest habitats. Leopards hunt and hide in rainforests and temperate forests. The varied landscapes are home to hundreds of species of colourful birds, as well, including peacocks, barbets, and bee-eaters.
India’s wildlife is under constant pressure from habitat loss and poaching. Conservation efforts are essential to protect species like Bengal tigers and Indian elephants. Nisha Purushothaman, who is originally from Kerala, has used her expertise to support this cause. She has spent years capturing powerful images of wildlife in India’s reserves. As a result, she was chosen to participate in a photography project to promote sustainable tourism in the Kerala region. Her hope is that her photography will inspire viewers to protect our planet so these animal populations thrive in the future.
